Since the original announcement during the WWDC '14, Swift has gained traction and is an execiting programming language to work with. It's time to explore what Swift offers to all developers and see what's new in the Apple's world.
In this meetup we will have the following talks:
In this talk, Adrian will provide lots of speculation and highly arguable unverified gossip, about how the design of Swift will lead Apple to redesign Cocoa into new directions, and maybe replacing it altogether. Some code examples will help him defend a point that nobody outside of Cupertino can sustain for sure.
Adrian Kosmaczewski is a writer, a software developer and a teacher. He is the author of two books about mobile software development, and has shipped mobile, web and desktop apps for iOS, Android, Mac OS X, Windows and Linux since 1996. Adrian holds a Master in Information Technology from the University of Liverpool.
When not coding or teaching, Adrian likes to spend time with his wife Claudia, his cat Max and his Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter.
In this talk, Junior will provide an overview about Functional Programming in Swift and how these concepts can be used to achieve one of the most important concepts for software written in a functional style: Compositionality. The goal is to show how these concepts can help developers to create a more robust, scalable and modular software.
Junior is a software engineer and organizer of the SwissMobiDevs events. Since the end of the Bachelor course, he writes software for iPhone and iPad, but has also shipped web applications in Ruby, Scala and Java. Since 2010 he is a Scala lover and is interested in Functional Programming and languages providing mixed paradigms.
