Global Day of Coderetreat 2016 aka #GDCR16 will take place in over 100 cities worldwide on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 and Zurich is participating in the event for the fifth time.
Note that besides Zurich, there's also an event in Bern and in St. Gallen.
To put it short, it's a day of fun (aka pair programming) for coders. For details, see the site of the Coderetreat Community Network. Quoting from there:
"Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement."
"The coderetreat day consists of 5-6 sessions, each session's learnings building upon previous sessions. The morning focuses on becoming comfortable with the problem domain, breaking old habits and beginning focused self-discovery. The afternoon pushes the envelope by challenging pairs to stretch their skills and understanding of abstractions, modular design and test-driven development."
Sounds like fun? It is!
Don't worry. I can assure you, it's not going to be a tiny bit boring because 1) coderetreats are fun by principle, 2) you'll be pairing with new people and 3) you'll get funky new constraints.
We're open for registrations at zurich.codersonly.org. Note, that RSVP-ing on techup is NOT sufficient, you'll have to register on the site, via Eventbrite. Hurry up, don't miss out on the fun!
Hope to see you there :)
