Webtuesday: Swisstrains

Swisstrains.ch is a simulation of the Swiss Federal Railways network based on the SBB timetables and railroad vector data.

We'll look into the engine of the recently launched new version, which deals with 13'000 trains on 5'000 km of tracks, generating 150'000 timetables stops across 1'800 stations. We'll see why this has been done and how the technology might be useful for many of us as well.

Speaker Vasile Cotovanu is a mobile software engineer at local.ch and, obviously, both map addict and a train buff.
