Swiss Big Data Usergroup Meeting #4 (w/ talks from IBM and Cloudera)

The 4th Swiss Big Data User Group Meeting!

Come and join us for an evening of interesting Big Data talks and discussions!

Please note that due to high popularity, we will move to a larger room! New room is CHN G 42.

  1. Reto Cavegn (IBM): What is IBM doing with BigData? (40 min)

"We would like to present IBM's view on BigData, what the market is requiring, and what products and strategies are evolved out of this requirements. Futher, we will present some reference projects to show, on what use cases customers are working today and what challanges our customers try to solve with BigData. Let me round up with some challenges and lessons we have learned."

  1. James Kinley (Cloudera): Cloudera Impala ( 40 min )

An introduction to Cloudera Impala. Cloudera Impala provides fast, interactive SQL queries directly on your Apache Hadoop data stored in HDFS or HBase. In addition to using the same unified storage platform, Impala also uses the same metadata, SQL syntax (Hive SQL), ODBC driver and user interface (Hue Beeswax) as Apache Hive. This provides a familiar and unified platform for batch-oriented or real-time queries.

After the event we will have a networking time with cold drinks and a tasty apero.
